D2.2:Report on regulations and incentives – short summary

Deliverable D2.2 “Report on regulations and incentives” of the NextFuel project, written by CERTH, explores how current regulations and policy incentives can support the the adoption of biomethanol as a marine fuel.

The report analyses key EU measures such as FuelEU Maritime and the EU ETS, and how they influence fuel choices and create economic drivers for low-carbon shipping fuels.

The regulatory landscape and potential incentives are also examined in a national level for Norway and Greece, where case studies for the installation of eREACT plants have been analysed in previous reports of the project.

Regulations and incentives are also examined from a plant operator’s perspective to provide practical insights.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation program under grant agreement No. 101136225.
