Collaboration is a cornerstone for maximizing the impact of EU-funded research. On 20 January, representatives from the NextFuel and M2ARE projects officially kicked off joint activities, setting an ambitious common goal: accelerating knowledge exchange and cooperation to support the industrialisation and deployment of sustainable methanol solutions for maritime applications.
This collaboration builds on NextFuel’s mission to industrialise electrically heated steam methane reforming (eSMR) technology, enabling cost-efficient, scalable and low-carbon methanol production as a realistic alternative to fossil fuels for shipping, while supporting the broader transition of the maritime sector.
The synergy focuses on strengthening technical approaches, avoiding overlaps, and maximizing impact through joint workshops, shared methodologies and tools, coordinated participation in EU events, targeted dissemination to decision-makers, and active engagement with key experts from related initiatives.
More details on this ambitious collaboration will follow soon.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation program under grant agreement No. 101136225.
