Partner Profile: FlexFuels Innovative Role in NEXTFUEL

FlexFuels is a SPV (Special Purpose Vehicle) majority owned by Molgas Norway that organise the development and construction of a methanol production plant in Norway. The plant uses TOPSOE’s eREACT solution, which is an electrified solution for Steam Methane Reforming (SMR). The advantage of the solution is that you get a low carbon methanol. This benefit is obtained through the use of electric power for the SMR process, improved energy efficiency of a small electrified SMR reactor and also through the potential to utilise carbon, off-gases and biogas as feedstocks. FlexFuels develops several plant sites, where the most advanced have secured electricity, needed feedstocks and where we are working on the final permits.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation program under grant agreement No. 101136225.
