The NextFuel project was represented at the ESCC 2026 Conference, held from 24–28 August 2026 in Rethymno, Greece, through the participation of project partner CERTH – Centre for Research and Technology Hellas.
During the conference, Dr. V. Kappatos presented NextFuel research through the poster:
“Sustainable Methanol for Maritime Transport Produced Through an Electrified Steam Methane Reformer”

The contribution highlighted NextFuel’s work related to the development of sustainable methanol pathways for maritime transport, focusing on the use of an electrified steam methane reformer as part of the transition towards cleaner and more sustainable marine fuels.
Participation in ESCC 2026 provided an opportunity to present NextFuel’s research to the wider scientific community and contribute to ongoing discussions on innovative technologies and solutions supporting the decarbonisation of maritime transport.
