The NextFuel Seminar on Alternative Fuels will take place on Friday, 9 October 2026, from 10:30 to 12:30, in Room Zefyros at the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) facilities. The seminar will bring together experts from the scientific community to explore alternative and sustainable fuels and share insights with interested stakeholders.
The seminar is organised by the Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT) of CERTH on behalf of the NextFuel project, with contributions from researchers at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
The programme will explore:
- Integrated microalgae–yeast systems for near-zero-waste lipid production.
- The role of ammonia in the hydrogen economy.
- Electrochemical approaches to industrial electrification.
- Sustainable renewable methanol production: challenges, opportunities and system perspectives.
- Sustainable e-methanol local value chains in Mediterranean ports through the POSEIDON project.
Speakers include Associate Professor Christos Chatzidoukas, Professor George Marnellos, Associate Professor Ioannis Katsounaros, Assistant Professor Theodoros Damartzis and Junior Researcher and PhD candidate Nikoletta Bouloti.
Moderated by Dr. Maria-Anna Charitopoulou and Dr. Maria Tournaviti of CERTH, the seminar will conclude with an open discussion and Q&A, providing an opportunity for audience interaction.
