Three European projects — FUEL-UP, NextFuel and REFOLUTION — have launched a new joint collaboration aimed at strengthening synergies, exchanging knowledge and increasing the impact of their work in the field of sustainable fuels.
The collaboration brings together complementary expertise across the development, production, scale-up and deployment of alternative fuels, supporting the wider transition towards the decarbonisation of both aviation and maritime transport.
Three complementary approaches, one shared ambition
FUEL-UP is developing innovative pathways to transform forest residues into advanced biofuels, contributing to the availability of cleaner and more sustainable fuels for aviation and marine transport.
NextFuel is advancing industrial electrified biomethanol production, supporting the development of scalable solutions for the transition towards low-carbon and sustainable fuels for the maritime sector.
REFOLUTION focuses on the integration, scale-up and certification of advanced biofuel production within existing refinery infrastructure, supporting the future deployment of sustainable fuels for both aviation and maritime applications.
By joining forces, the three projects will create opportunities for knowledge exchange, joint communication and dissemination activities, stakeholder engagement and the development of new synergies across their respective communities.
The collaboration also provides an opportunity to highlight the complementary nature of the three projects and strengthen their collective contribution towards a common objective: cleaner fuels and more sustainable transport in Europe.
Joint activities already underway
The collaboration is already moving forward, with the three projects preparing their first joint activities.
A joint webinar will be announced soon, bringing together representatives from FUEL-UP, NextFuel and REFOLUTION to present their respective approaches, technologies and progress, while also exploring the connections between their work and the opportunities for further cooperation.
Further information on the webinar and other joint activities will be shared shortly.
Stay tuned for more updates from this new collaboration.
